I den grafiska romanen
Husfrid står Alisons relation till sin krävande far Bruce Bechdel i centrum. Bruce var engelsklärare och begravningsentreprenör till yrket och privat besatt av skönhet i form av trädgård, kläder och heminredning. Under collegetiden kommer Alison ut som lesbisk och i samma veva framkommer det att även hennes far var hemligt homosexuell. En kort tid senare avlider han i en bilolycka - eller var det ett självmord? Med en mängd litterära referenser till hjälp försöker Bechdel reda ut sitt förhållande till fadern och hur det har påverkat hennes liv.
Husfrid sägs vara en av de verkligt stora grafiska romanerna och jag är böjd att hålla med.

A strained segue...you mentioned "serialalbum" which, associatively speaking, brought to mind "CD"...where is Lady Gaga's CD entitled "The Fame" at Katrinehols biblioteket? I don't see it listed in the library catalog!!

Well, you have a new book within the Katrineholm library collection which I requested that the library purchase entitled "How To Solve It" by George Pólya. The book is an important book because it provides a framework for solving mathematical problems. Furthermore, Pólya's book is a kind of fulcrum point which, when coupled with the right use of thought, will, experience, and imagination, and experimentation, may solve a whole host of problems beyond mathematical problems. (The formal name for problem solving thinking found in the book is "heuristics". Heuristics is important because heuristics can lead to theories, proofs, and algorithms as well as immediate physical solutions to problems in many spheres of life.)
